Sonic Frontiers Sells 3.2 Million Units Worldwide
Sega has announced via its latest financial report that the newest mainline outing in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, Sonic Frontiers, has sold over 3.2 million units worldwide as of the end of March 2023. The title was confirmed to have sold 3 million a few months ago. Immense congratulations to Sonic Team for achieving this feat.
Thanks to Tails Channel for catching this news.
For those who missed the news, Sonic Frontiers received a post-launch roadmap with three planned content drops. The first was recently released, and the third will be the most significant, containing new playable characters and story content.
Ian Flynn, the game’s original writer, has been confirmed to return to the DLC’s third wave, which will contain a new storyline.
Interestingly, Sonic’s iconic spin dash technique will seemingly arrive in the second content drop.
Sonic Frontiers features an “open-zone” gameplay style, where players will freely explore five distinct islands housing unique biomes, puzzles, enemies, and more. Combat is a direct focus this time, with several enemy types to best and a skill tree to peruse. Moreover, the Cyber Space levels provide some familiar speed-centric linearity veteran fans can embrace.
