Sonic Frontiers Director Seemingly Confirms Spindash Arriving in New Update
The director of Sonic Frontiers, Morio Kishimoto, has seemingly confirmed in a tweet thread that the second free DLC update for the game is planned to feature the return of the Spindash maneuver. In the title, Sonic only has access to the boost and the Drop Dash, the latter of which is barely used by most players.
Kishimoto’s replies have been translated below via our team’s Ryuji:
“!? Oh my, I guess the jig is up!!
As a matter of fact, we wanted to include it in the first update wave but decided it needed further refining to meet everyone’s expectations, so we are hoping to perfect it by the second update wave.
Now that it’s been exposed, I’ll tell you, you can count on us! (laughs)
…
This is something that we had initially struggled with during development [of the base game], but we decided to take on the challenge after listening to everyone’s feedback on it.
I was surprised to find that the things we are working on now are going to expand the fun of the open zone concept even further. And I would like to thank everyone’s suggestions, and I hope you look forward to it.”
Sonic Frontiers features an “open-zone” gameplay style, where players will freely explore five distinct islands housing unique biomes, puzzles, enemies, and more. Combat is a direct focus this time, with several enemy types to best and a skill tree to peruse. Moreover, the Cyber Space levels provide some familiar speed-centric linearity veteran fans can embrace.
