Sonic Frontiers Store Pages Reveal 12+ Age Rating Next To 7+ So Who Knows What It Is; Tagged as Adventure RPG

Video game retailer xtralife has revealed store pages for the upcoming Sonic Frontiers, potentially earlier than intended.

And while these store pages don’t reveal anything all that vast, the box arts for each of the game’s versions depict a 12+ age rating, which would certainly be a somewhat unexpected direction for the title. Still, the 7+ PEGI age rating is also displayed on the right side of pages and under the Data Sheets. Personally, it seems more probable that the 12+ rating is a placeholder since that rating seems far more unlikely, though I’d certainly welcome it.

Additionally, this is a minor point, but the tagged genres for Sonic Frontiers are Adventure and RPG. Several Sonic games have utilized RPG elements, but seeing it so clearly defined as part of the genre label here merits some thought. Perhaps there will be skill trees, upgrades, or other types of customization? We’ll have to see when this highly anticipated title finally receives more promotion.

The latest Sonic Official live stream did reiterate that Sonic Frontiers is still on track for a Holiday 2022 release, so hopefully, that means that much-needed news on this adventure is shared sooner rather than later.
