The publisher notes that this is the PC port of the Xbox360/PSP Refrain release upscaled to 1280 x 720.
Sona-Nyl of the Violet Shadows Refrain takes place in the year 1907. The 20th century’s infancy unfolds in a world starkly different from our own. This realm is marked by the proliferation of numerous steam-powered Engines, swiftly advancing a steam civilization that has shrouded the skies in smog, robbing humanity of the azure heavens they once cherished. Amid this industrial transformation, the ruins of Engine City, New York, remain perpetually concealed beneath a pall of gray clouds and tainted rain, the aftermath of the “Great Disappearance” that struck five years ago, rendering the metropolis abandoned and forsaken, sealed off from the world by the United States government.
Yet, amidst the silence, a woman named Elysia steps into this desolation, driven by a singular purpose. Her destination: the heart of the catastrophe, old Manhattan.
Unbeknownst to her…
Beneath the surface, an enigmatic realm known as “Underground New York” remains hidden, bathed in an eerie violet light. Unseen by the surface world, this subterranean expanse houses the once-crumbled skyscrapers that still loom tall, albeit in distorted forms. This “Underground” is a world of black and violet shadows, a prison with no escape, where the men and women who vanished five years ago continue to exist. They live in constant fear of the seven enigmatic “Messengers,” enduring unrelenting terror, agony, and death, seemingly awaiting something in this twisted underground city.
Into this enigmatic realm enters a girl named Lily, her memories erased. With a single, inexplicable compulsion, she embarks on a journey toward Manhattan, her purpose unclear. Yet, she remains resolute.
