Some Gamers Are Mad About The House in Fata Morgana’s 100% Switch Score on Metacritic

Limited Run Games recently released the Novectacle-developed visual novel The House in Fata Morgana, on Nintendo Switch. Following the release, we shared our review of the game, which we gave a deserving 10/10 too based on its excellent character scenarios, narrative, and art design. We weren’t the only ones who felt this way either since three other outlets shared their review to give the game a 100% on Metacritic’s platform.

However, some gamers aren’t feeling the same way and chose to add their scores to the User Review section where they can voice their opinion of the game and what they deem is deserving of a perfect score.

One user writes:

Visual Novels are extremely pointless. Jesus christ. and 100/100 score by 4 reviews? Seriously? Games that have million times more effort put into them, have so much worse scores. Literally anyone can make “game” like this in few weeks. You don’t need budget, you don’t need big team. You can literally make game like this alone, in few weeks, maybe even less. It’s nothing new, nothing interesting, nothing fun, nothing original, nothing creative, nothing good, just no.

Another suggests other games that visual novel fans should play:

Very boring game! I would rather recommend actually good games like GTA V or Far Cry 3.

An actual gamer shares their thoughts on gaming journalism:

And this is why gaming journalism is absolute joke at the moment. These people don’t like to play actual video games, so they will rather pretend that books are video games.

There are others as well, but hey, haters gonna hate.

The publisher is also hosting a limited physical edition of the game, which includes:

  • The House in Fata Morgana on Switch
  • Artbook
  • Artcards
  • Reversible Poster
  • 6-Disc Soundtrack

A standard edition is also available.

The House in Fata Morgana is a visual novel released in 2012 that tells the story of a spirit who wakes up in a mansion without a memory. However, there is a Maid present who works with the spirit to recover portions of its memory. This involves exploring the mansion’s past in hopes that the spirit recognizes itself. It’s a dark and engaging tale and one that has stuck with players long after its conclusion.
