Konami is bringing Silent Hill f to Anime Expo 2025 with a special panel featuring some of the creative minds behind the next entry in the long-running horror series. Titled “KONAMI Presents: Unmasking Silent Hill f,” the event will take place on July 4 from 3:15 PM to 4:05 PM in the JW Marriott Platinum Ballroom.
The panel includes producer Motoi Okamoto, writer Ryukishi07 (When They Cry), and legendary composer Akira Yamaoka, who helped define the franchise’s iconic audio identity. Together, they’ll shed light on the direction of Silent Hill f, its themes, and the process behind crafting psychological horror for a new era of the series. In case you missed it, check out our interview with Ryukishi07.
A New Face for Silent Hill
Originally announced in 2022, Silent Hill f represents a major departure from previous entries. This time, the horror shifts from the fog-choked streets of the series’ titular town to 1960s Japan. Details remain scarce, but the story follows high school student Hinako Shimizu as she faces a reality warped by supernatural forces and trauma, framed by a narrative that intertwines beauty with decay.
Konami has enlisted Ryukishi07 to pen the story, a move that pushes the psychological dimension of Silent Hill f into deeply disturbing territory. His reputation for unsettling, layered narratives is already stirring curiosity among longtime fans and visual novel readers alike.
Familiar Sounds, New Nightmares
Akira Yamaoka’s involvement is likely to be a highlight for returning fans. His compositions have played a pivotal role in shaping the atmosphere of earlier Silent Hill titles, and he’ll be joined by Kensuke Inage on the project’s soundtrack. The team’s combined approach is expected to bring a mix of eerie ambience and emotional resonance.
Meanwhile, producer Motoi Okamoto, who previously worked on Luigi’s Mansion and Pikmin at Nintendo, is tasked with modernizing the series while retaining its psychological roots. Okamoto has previously stated a desire to expand the franchise with a variety of different creators and directions, positioning Silent Hill as both a reboot and a bold experiment.
What to Expect at the Panel
While Konami has remained quiet on gameplay specifics, the Anime Expo panel is likely to delve into the game’s narrative structure, aesthetic influences, and possibly offer a new look at development progress. Given the title’s long silence since its original teaser, this could be the most in-depth update yet.
Silent Hill f is in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. No release window has been confirmed.
