Atlus Japan has shared the third volume of their news broadcasts for the upcoming latest mainline entry in the Shin Megami Tensei series, Shin Megami Tensei V. This video primarily introduces the demons that play crucial roles in the story, following the last 2 broadcasts that focused on the vital human characters. Additionally, key aspects of map exploration and mechanics were introduced, like the request system, Magatsuhi, and more.
Further, this video also clarifies the game’s difficulty levels: Casual, Normal, and Hard. While it will be possible to switch to lower difficulty levels from Hard in the middle of a playthrough, it will not be possible to switch back to Hard. Safety difficulty, a more accessible game mode than Casual, will be available as free DLC.
You can view the entire third news broadcast covering the specifics of all the aforementioned information below. English Captions are available.
Shin Megami Tensei V takes place after a murder occurs in modern-day Tokyo that blocks the game’s protagonist from walking home. The detour may have been due to fate or another force, but he finds himself buried and unconscious.
When he awakens, he finds himself in a new Tokyo, a wasteland after the apocalypse known as Da’at. He quickly finds out that he’s not alone, as demons are closing in on his location. However, a mighty being known as a Nahobino appears and saves him. With this power, the protagonist can venture through Da’at and hopefully get some answers about what happened to his former home.
Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing for Nintendo Switch on November 12, 2021.
