Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon Video #99 Showcases Sabbatic Goat Baphomet

The official Youtube channel for Atlus Japan has shared the 99th Daily Demon video for the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V. This entry highlights Baphomet, known as a king of demons and alternatively titled the ‘Sabbatic Goat.’ In addition to being believed to be the potentially corrupted version of the founder of Islam, Baphomet can control all human women and is said to have granted witches their power, thereby making him a demon usually worshipped by that party.

Baphomet wields Maragion and Mudoon, producing an expected affinity for the fire and dark elements. He is a well-known and frequently appearing demon in the Shin Megami Tensei series. However, his first Persona-related appearance was relatively recent in the grand scheme of releases, being Persona 4 Golden.

Shin Megami Tensei V takes place after a murder occurs in modern-day Tokyo that blocks the game’s protagonist from walking home. The detour may have been due to fate or another force, but he finds himself buried and unconscious.

When he awakens, he finds himself in a new Tokyo, a wasteland after the apocalypse known as Da’at. He quickly finds out that he’s not alone, as demons are closing in on his location. However, a mighty being known as a Nahobino appears and saves him. With this power, the protagonist can venture through Da’at and hopefully get some answers about what happened to his former home.

Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing for Nintendo Switch on November 12, 2021.
