Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon Video #83 Showcases The Tragic Attis

The official Youtube channel for Atlus Japan has shared the 83rd Daily Demon video for the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V. This entry highlights Attis, a figure in Greek myth with a disturbing history. Growing up as an attractive man, Attis eventually drew the attention of the goddess Cybele. However, he rejected her advances and ran away, resulting in him castrating himself and dying near the site of a pine tree. Cybele and Zeus then prevented his body from rotting while the pine tree protected his spirit.

Attis wields Agilao, Maragi, and Heat Wave, among other skills. He seems to be a mid-game-centric demon with this skill level, having an affinity for fire with some physical prowess. He is a relatively recent addition to the Shin Megami Tensei titles, with his first appearance being in the original Strange Journey. Though, his first Persona appearance was earlier, being Persona 3.

Shin Megami Tensei V takes place after a murder occurs in modern-day Tokyo that blocks the game’s protagonist from walking home. The detour may have been due to fate or another force, but he finds himself buried and unconscious.

When he awakens, he finds himself in a new Tokyo, a wasteland after the apocalypse known as Da’at. He quickly finds out that he’s not alone, as demons are closing in on his location. However, a mighty being known as a Nahobino appears and saves him. With this power, the protagonist can venture through Da’at and hopefully get some answers about what happened to this former home.

Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing for Nintendo Switch on November 12, 2021.
