Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon Video #79 Showcases The Aptly-Named Thunderbird
The official Youtube channel for Atlus Japan has shared the 79th Daily Demon video for the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V. This entry highlights Thunderbird, a supernatural bird found in Native American folklore. In addition to being significantly powerful, it was also the subject of various depictions throughout time via several facets of culture, such as songs and artwork.
Thunderbird wields Zionga and Mazionga as expected, as well as Concentrate and Megido, making it a reliable mid-game magic-centric demon. Interestingly, this demon is relatively recent with its appearances in Shin Megami Tensei and Persona. For instance, the only Persona title it has appeared in is Persona 5 Royal, and its first Shin Megami Tensei game appearance was in Strange Journey’s original release.
You can view the Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon video introducing Thunderbird below:
Shin Megami Tensei V takes place after a murder occurs in modern-day Tokyo that blocks the game’s protagonist from walking home. The detour may have been due to fate or another force, but he finds himself buried and unconscious.
When he awakens, he finds himself in a new Tokyo, a wasteland after the apocalypse known as Da’at. He quickly finds out that he’s not alone, as demons are closing in on his location. However, a mighty being known as a Nahobino appears and saves him. With this power, the protagonist can venture through Da’at and hopefully get some answers about what happened to this former home.
Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing for Nintendo Switch on November 12, 2021.
