Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon Video #157 Showcases the Incomplete Monstrosity, Black Ooze

The official Youtube channel for Atlus Japan has shared the 157th Daily Demon video for the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V. This entry highlights Black Ooze, a demon lacking any extensive mythological lore and is instead just a mass of moving amoeba that seeks human matter to hopefully evolve its meager state. It’s incomplete in the sense that its supposed proper form has been failed to be realized. Some believe its origins are tied to Dungeons and Dragons as the “ooze” creature.

Black Ooze wields Life Drain, Venom Chaser, and Poison Liquid, making it a somewhat strength-reliant demon. However, its only real specialty is inflicting poison and disrupting foes in other non-straightforward methods. It debuted in the original Shin Megami Tensei, and its first Persona game appearance was in Persona 5.

You can view the Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon video introducing Black Ooze below:

Shin Megami Tensei V takes place after a murder occurs in modern-day Tokyo that blocks the game’s protagonist from walking home. The detour may have been due to fate or another force, but he finds himself buried and unconscious.

When he awakens, he finds himself in a new Tokyo, a wasteland after the apocalypse known as Da’at. He quickly finds out that he’s not alone, as demons are closing in on his location. However, a mighty being known as a Nahobino appears and saves him. With this power, the protagonist can venture through Da’at and hopefully get some answers about what happened to his former home.

Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing for Nintendo Switch on November 12, 2021.
