Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon Video #143 Showcases the Japanese Dwarf Deity Sukuna-Hikona

The official Youtube channel for Atlus Japan has shared the 143rd Daily Demon video for the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V. This entry highlights Sukuna-Hikona, the Japanese dwarf deity commonly associated with hot springs, healing ailments, and brewing the alcoholic beverage sake. He also aided in stabilizing the world’s creation by prescribing medicines against several types of diseases.

Sukuna-Hikona wields Matarukaja, Matarunda, Fatal Sword, and Mazanma, making him a fairly well-rounded demon regarding combative prowess, though he is typically more magically inclined than physically. He debuted in Shin Megami Tensei II, and his first Persona game appearance was in Persona 4. This demon was also Naoto’s Persona in Persona 4, though his depiction here is vastly different.

You can view the Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon video introducing Sukuna-Hikona below:

Shin Megami Tensei V takes place after a murder occurs in modern-day Tokyo that blocks the game’s protagonist from walking home. The detour may have been due to fate or another force, but he finds himself buried and unconscious.

When he awakens, he finds himself in a new Tokyo, a wasteland after the apocalypse known as Da’at. He quickly finds out that he’s not alone, as demons are closing in on his location. However, a mighty being known as a Nahobino appears and saves him. With this power, the protagonist can venture through Da’at and hopefully get some answers about what happened to his former home.

Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing for Nintendo Switch on November 12, 2021.
