Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon Video #140 Showcases the Half-Bull Emperor of Fire Chi You

The official Youtube channel for Atlus Japan has shared the 140th Daily Demon video for the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V. This entry highlights Chi You, a deity in Chinese mythology who was a half-man half-bull. He was the emperor of agriculture and fire and has been worshipped in regards to weapons and war. Additionally, depictions of him vary, but he is always depicted with multiple arms and eyes.

Chi You wields Mazanbarion, Glacial Blast, and Yabusame Shot, making him a distinct strength-centric demon with unconventional skills. He debuted in Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner, and his first Persona game appearance was in Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.

Shin Megami Tensei V takes place after a murder occurs in modern-day Tokyo that blocks the game’s protagonist from walking home. The detour may have been due to fate or another force, but he finds himself buried and unconscious.

When he awakens, he finds himself in a new Tokyo, a wasteland after the apocalypse known as Da’at. He quickly finds out that he’s not alone, as demons are closing in on his location. However, a mighty being known as a Nahobino appears and saves him. With this power, the protagonist can venture through Da’at and hopefully get some answers about what happened to his former home.

Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing for Nintendo Switch on November 12, 2021.
