Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon Video #121 Showcases the Demonic Tempest Bird Anzu

The official Youtube channel for Atlus Japan has shared the 121st Daily Demon video for the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V. This entry highlights Anzu, notably regarded as a demonic tempest bird in Mesopotamian Mythology. Its most famous tale consists of stealing the Tablets of Destinies, key artifacts embedded with the power to alter one’s fate, a truly terrifying prospect. However, Anu, known as the Supreme God, was so insistent on these Tablets being recovered from Anzu that he promised sovereignty to the god who recovered them.

Anzu wields Damascus Claw, Me Petra, Masukukaja, and Zinoga, making it an equally magically and physically adept demon usually obtained during the beginnings to middle points of the games. Anzu debuted in Shin Megami Tensei II, while its first Persona appearance was in Persona 4.

Shin Megami Tensei V takes place after a murder occurs in modern-day Tokyo that blocks the game’s protagonist from walking home. The detour may have been due to fate or another force, but he finds himself buried and unconscious.

When he awakens, he finds himself in a new Tokyo, a wasteland after the apocalypse known as Da’at. He quickly finds out that he’s not alone, as demons are closing in on his location. However, a mighty being known as a Nahobino appears and saves him. With this power, the protagonist can venture through Da’at and hopefully get some answers about what happened to his former home.

Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing for Nintendo Switch on November 12, 2021.
