Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon Video #110 Showcases the Deathly Macabre

The official Youtube channel for Atlus Japan has shared the 110th Daily Demon video for the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V. This entry highlights Macabre, who is more of a concept than an actual being. When something is regarded as macabre, it deals in the realms of death or similarly ghastly subject matters. This physical manifestation of Macabre was made to remind humanity of how ultimately meaningless life’s victories and triumphs truly are when death awaits all.

Macabre wields poison and darkness-themed skills with a dabble of supportive buffs to make him a crafty all-rounder usually reliant on strength. He is an extremely recent addition to the Shin Megami Tensei series, debuting in Strange Journey. However, his Persona debut is even sooner, being in the latest mainline entry’s newest iteration, Persona 5 Royal.

Shin Megami Tensei V takes place after a murder occurs in modern-day Tokyo that blocks the game’s protagonist from walking home. The detour may have been due to fate or another force, but he finds himself buried and unconscious.

When he awakens, he finds himself in a new Tokyo, a wasteland after the apocalypse known as Da’at. He quickly finds out that he’s not alone, as demons are closing in on his location. However, a mighty being known as a Nahobino appears and saves him. With this power, the protagonist can venture through Da’at and hopefully get some answers about what happened to his former home.

Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing for Nintendo Switch on November 12, 2021.
