Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon Video #106 Showcases Buddhist Guardian Deity Zouchouten

The official Youtube channel for Atlus Japan has shared the 106th Daily Demon video for the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V. This entry highlights Zouchouten, the guardian deity who guards the Southern region of Buddha’s realm. His depictions usually have him wield either a polearm or sword, and he boasts leadership qualities with his guidance of troops to provide strengthened protection.

Zouchouten wields Mazionga, Fatal Sword, and Charge, making him a clearly physically adept demon with an affinity for the element of lightning. He has appeared in numerous Shin Megami Tensei titles since the first entry, while its only Persona-related appearances were in Persona 3 and Persona 5.

You can view the Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon video introducing Zouchouten below:

Shin Megami Tensei V takes place after a murder occurs in modern-day Tokyo that blocks the game’s protagonist from walking home. The detour may have been due to fate or another force, but he finds himself buried and unconscious.

When he awakens, he finds himself in a new Tokyo, a wasteland after the apocalypse known as Da’at. He quickly finds out that he’s not alone, as demons are closing in on his location. However, a mighty being known as a Nahobino appears and saves him. With this power, the protagonist can venture through Da’at and hopefully get some answers about what happened to his former home.

Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing for Nintendo Switch on November 12, 2021.
