Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon Video #104 Showcases Slavic Deity of Darkness Chernobog
The official Youtube channel for Atlus Japan has shared the 104th Daily Demon video for the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V. This entry highlights Chernobog, a deity in Slavic mythology who represented darkness and just general deception. He is a standout deity solely because he was meant to be avoided and not worshiped whatsoever, primarily due to his association with destruction and chaos. This avoidance grew so potent that Chernobog gradually became identified in tandem with the devil.
Chernobog wields Poison Breath and Mamudo alongside his own unique skill and a physical one, making him a crafty demon adept in the realms of status ailments while fittingly embracing darkness. He has appeared in numerous Shin Megami Tensei and Persona games, especially since the former’s early titles. Regarding Persona, Chernobog debuted in Persona 3.

Shin Megami Tensei V takes place after a murder occurs in modern-day Tokyo that blocks the game’s protagonist from walking home. The detour may have been due to fate or another force, but he finds himself buried and unconscious.
When he awakens, he finds himself in a new Tokyo, a wasteland after the apocalypse known as Da’at. He quickly finds out that he’s not alone, as demons are closing in on his location. However, a mighty being known as a Nahobino appears and saves him. With this power, the protagonist can venture through Da’at and hopefully get some answers about what happened to his former home.
Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing for Nintendo Switch on November 12, 2021.
