The official Youtube channel for Atlus Japan has shared the 102nd Daily Demon video for the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei V. This entry highlights Siegfried, a character in the German poem Das Nibelungenlied, who is notably known for being a dragon slayer. He is alternatively known as Sigurd from Norse stories. Siegfried was involved in a rather conflicting plot that involved slaying the dragon Fafnir, though it concluded with Siegfried killing Regin, his foster parent.
Siegfried wields Power Charge and Brave Blade, making him a well-built physical attacker and Ice Dracostrike, symbolizing his obvious connection to the creatures. He is a relatively recent addition to Shin Megami Tensei, with his debut being in Shin Megami Tensei IV, and his first Persona appearance was in Persona 3.
You can view the Shin Megami Tensei V Daily Demon video introducing Siegfried below:
Shin Megami Tensei V takes place after a murder occurs in modern-day Tokyo that blocks the game’s protagonist from walking home. The detour may have been due to fate or another force, but he finds himself buried and unconscious.
When he awakens, he finds himself in a new Tokyo, a wasteland after the apocalypse known as Da’at. He quickly finds out that he’s not alone, as demons are closing in on his location. However, a mighty being known as a Nahobino appears and saves him. With this power, the protagonist can venture through Da’at and hopefully get some answers about what happened to his former home.
Shin Megami Tensei V is releasing for Nintendo Switch on November 12, 2021.
