Shawn Ashmore Reflects on Playing Conrad in ‘The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan’ Developer Diary

Bandai Namco released a new video for the Supermassive Games developed narrative-driven adventure The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC-via Steam on August 30.

The video features actor Shawn Ashmore who plays the character Conrad in the game. The actor offers an in-depth discussion on how he approached the character of Conrad and the emotions behind it. The video also gives a behind-the-scenes look into the motion-capture process that brings these characters to life, or death, depending on the player’s choices. The case features a variety of different personalities across the cast of characters who are each paramount to Man of Medan’s progression. Ashmore gives his insight on how crucial it was for the team to do their best to make this an immersive experience.

During the game, players will make decisions that they have to live with. Some of these choices can cause characters to die and thus altering the game’s narrative. This is similar to the developer’s previous title Until Dawn, which was a huge success in terms of story design and gameplay. The game follows the story of 5 stowaways who embarked on a journey in a stormy sea.
