Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Gets Free DLC Adding Jammies Mode and Blaster Master Zero Transformation

WayForward announced a new update for their colorful platformer Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and PC.

The update titled “Shantae Summer Surprise”, adds a new costume to the game, Jammies Mode. By using the Jammies costume, players will be able to play through the game with added abilities including a float feature where Shantae lays on a cloud. There’s also an attack where Shantae can throw sheep at her enemies.

The fun doesn’t stop there, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero will also get a new transformation dance which turns her into Sophia III from the Inti Creates developed Blaster Master Zero. As Sophie III, players can blaster their way through enemies with memorable music from Blaster Master Zero.

The update is available to all owners of the game across all platforms, including the most recent Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition.

Author’s take: I love surprise announcements, especially ones for older titles. This free DLC is an awesome incentive for players to return to a fun platformer that they might have not picked up in awhile. On the other hand, it might be just want a new player needs to pick the game up.
