Severed Physical Nintendo Switch Release Announced; Pre-Orders Start This Week

Limited Run Games has announced that the Drinkbox Studios-developed action-adventure game, Severed, will receive a physical Nintendo Switch release. Pre-orders will be available from Limited Run Games’ storefront between May 12 at 10 AM ET through June 11, 2023, for $34.99. However, a release date or window was not provided.

For those unaware, Severed is a cult-classic title initially released for the PlayStation Vita before seeing a digital Nintendo Switch version. Players control the protagonist Sasha who is searching for her family. She wields a living sword and must use it to battle foes, solve puzzles, and discover secrets.

Additionally, action RPG elements such as an upgrade tree and the gradual acquisition of new abilities help keep the experience fresh even in its later hours. The Switch’s touchscreen is also utilized to grant greater player gameplay immersion. Moreover, you can wear the severed body parts of slain enemies to gain new abilities or consume them to enhance your gear and skills.

Also of note is that the soundtrack is by the “Juno-nominated band YAMANTAKA // SONIC TITAN featuring Pantayo. Lastly, “Severed is played using touchscreen controls. TV mode is not supported.”
