Sega Trademarks ‘Sonic Frontiers’ in English and Japanese; Potentially the New, Upcoming Sonic Game
Publisher and developer Sega have recently filed trademarks for Sonic Frontiers in both English and Japanese. The filing dates for these trademarks occurred on October 22, 2021, and their publicization date was today in Japan.
Sega previously announced that a new Sonic title was in development earlier this year, though very little information has been officially revealed about it. However, various rumors and leaks have spread. The common consensus from these leaks is that the game, which was believed to be titled Sonic Rangers, aims to be Breath of the Wild-like in scope and ambition, hopefully setting new heights for the Sonic franchise.
Of course, it is worth noting that these recently filed trademarks may have nothing to do with this upcoming game, though with Sonic Colors Remastered having been released, chances are seeming likely.

Sonic Colors Ultimate is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

This title is a remaster of its original release on Nintendo Wii, and it utilizes the Wisps and Boost system for on-the-fly decision-making for speedy platforming. Sonic Colors was a 2010 video game that served to quite literally boost interest back into the Sonic franchise thanks to its more light-hearted tone and dedication to speed. Since its initial release, the title has received much critique, but it still has its fair share of fans.
