Nintendo recently published their final video for the Inside the House of Indies series, highlighting the last batch of titles in development. And of these titles, the highly anticipated Sabotage Studios-developed Sea of Stars was discussed by composer Yasunori Mitsuda.
Mitsuda reflects on the enthused shock he felt when being contacted by the team for the project and how he’s been conversing with Eric W. Brown, the leading composer, to give the title’s composition a “united feeling.” One explicitly mentioned theme is having a “Super Nintendo-style sound,” as Mitsuda has been resampling audio to capture that sound.
Additionally, the official Nintendo page of this video has confirmed that the game is launching in the Summer of 2023.
Sea of Stars stars Valere and Zale, two characters who share the same fate of becoming Solstice Warriors. Each shares the power of the Sun and Moon to perform what is known as Eclipse Magic to fight against an evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer.
Combat in Sea of Stars has players take control of six-party members in turn-based RPG systems. The game also removes level grinding as character skills are unlocked through game progression and not tied to how many fights are taken. When battles occur, players must use their tactical skills to make it out and preemptively counter powerful enemy attacks.
