Sea of Solitude: The Director’s Cut Releasing Exclusively for Nintendo Switch on March 2021
During the Game Awards Live Presentation yesterday, Quantic Dream and the Berlin-based studio Jo-Mei announced a new partnership to publish and distribute the upcoming title, Sea of Solitude: The Director’s Cut.

This title follows the protagonist Kay, a woman who turns into a monster due to her despair and loneliness. Players will guide Kay through the world as she confronts metaphorical creatures embodying the negativity she must overcome and learns more about both the world and herself.
Creative director, Cornelia Geppert, had this to say regarding the title’s announcement:
“I have been a fan of Quantic Dream since their PS2 games! An outstanding studio in my eyes, creating such unique, high-quality story driven games for decades now. Getting the opportunity to finally bring Sea of Solitude to the full vision I always had in my mind is just incredible. Being able to do so with the support and love for our work from the artists at Quantic Dream still feels like a dream to be honest! What a journey!”
Chief Executive Officer of Quantic Dream, David Cage, had this to say regarding the title’s announcement:
“We really fell in love with this title and the extraordinary emotional journey it offers. Sea of Solitude: The Director’s Cut is both a unique visual and videogame experience, while evoking deep topics that will certainly resonate with many players. At Quantic Dream, we are passionate about creators who have a singular vision of video games and who have something different to offer. We want to help them fully realize their vision, give them the means of their dreams and help them meet the widest possible audience.”
Sea of Solitude: The Director’s Cut is an improved version of the original title that released back in 2019 and will sport several enhancements such as rewritten dialogue from award-winning author Stephen Bell, re-recorded lines from a new cast of actors fully dubbing the game in English, French, Spanish, Japanese and German, gyroscope functionality for Kay’s flare ability, and a photo mode with the ability to alter the climate.
Sea of Solitude: The Director’s Cut will be releasing exclusively on Nintendo Switch on March 4, 2021, for $19.99. A demo for the title will also be available on March 4, 2021.
