Samurai Warriors 5 Confirmed for PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC to be a “Re-Imagining of the Franchise”
Koei Tecmo announced that the Omega Force-developed 1 versus 1000 action game Samurai Warriors 5 is currently in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam.
Samurai Warriors 5 is meant to be a re-imagining for the franchise with an all-new storyline along with new character designs and a new visual presentation. The game takes place during the Sengoku period and focuses on Nobunaga Oda and Mitsuhide Akechi. While a samurai skirmish takes place, players will discover what led to the battle.
A live stream will take place on February 25, JST, with regular updates leading up to the game’s release this summer. The updates will feature behind the scene development details and how the developers are addressing concerns from fans.
The publisher released a new trailer highlighting the new systems and updated characters. We get a glimpse of the war, but we don’t see very much gameplay. I’m eager to see how the mechanics have been improved in this entry of the series.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the release of Samurai Warriors 5 in the west.
For now, check out the brand new trailer offering a preview of the updated gameplay mechanics. Be aware that the trailer only shows the game running on Switch hardware:
