Samurai Warriors 5 Livestream Set to Air Later This Month; Gameplay and Story Elements to be Shown
Koei Tecmo announced that the Omega Force-developed 1 versus 1000 action game Samurai Warriors 5 will receive a gameplay live stream on March 24.
The Livestream will premier on March 24 at 5 am PT on the publisher’s YouTube channel. This stream will focus on the gameplay and narrative direction of the new entry. Further, viewers will get to see a few of the playable characters in action and possibly what we can expect in terms of limited editions in Japan. We only hope the game receives any type of collector’s edition in the west.
Samurai Warriors 5 takes place after the end of the Ōnin War, during the Sengoku period, and tells the story of two of the most preeminent military commanders of this period – Nobunaga Oda and Mitsuhide Akechi. This title includes various eras from this period, including the younger years of Nobunaga, when he was known as “Owari’s Great Fool,” and the period of turmoil and upheaval leading to the Honnō-Ji Incident.
The character designs have been re-imagined to fit the storyline. There will be 27 playable characters at launch, including new and returning warriors, from Ieyasu Tokugawa and Hideyoshi Hashiba to Nō and Yoshimoto Imagawa. Original character Mitsuki – a Kōga Ninja, has also been added, with other new characters to be announced at a later date.
Samurai Warriors 5 will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam on July 27, 2021.
