Samurai Shodown Reveals Yashamaru as Playable Character in New Trailer
SNK and Athlon Games released a new character trailer for their upcoming fighter, Samurai Shodown, coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on June 25, and Nintendo Switch and PC in Q4 of 2019.
This week, SNK continues their character reveals by introducing a newcomer, Yashamaru. Yashamaru is a younger fighter from a fallen warrior family. Evidently, he’s on a warpath against the Tokugawa shogunate who falsely convicted and executed his father. In battle, Yashamaru will use the supernatural Tengu powers he has inherited from his family bloodline as well as his weapon Shanaō. He also goes out of his way to defend the weak from any who would do them harm – good guy Yashamaru.
Samurai Shodown will reboot the 2D fighting game series by presenting it with a new 3D graphical look. However, the developer promises that it will retain the classic fantasy Samurai manga look of the series.
Samurai Shodown is set in the late 18th century after the events of Samurai Showdown V and prior to the events of the original game. As of right now, the game will see the return of 13 classic characters, including Haohmaru, Earthquake, and Galford, along with three brand new characters to the series. The game also has planned DLC characters for after launch.
In case you missed it, you can check out character trailers for Haohmaru and Genjuro, Charlotte, Shiki, Ukya, Nakoruru, and Darli Dagger.
