SNK and Athlon Games released a new character trailer for their upcoming fighter, Samurai Shodown, coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this June, and Nintendo Switch and PC in Q4 of 2019.
The trailer introduces the character Ukyo, a skilled swordsman who excels in the lai quick draw sword technique. Ukyo is a popular fighter, especially with the ladies, but has his heart set on Kei Odagiri. He suffers from an incurable sickness, but he has vowed to continue to fight for her.
Samurai Shodown will reboot the 2D fighting game series by presenting it with a new 3D graphical look. However, the developer promises that it will retain the classic fantasy Samurai manga look of the series.
Samurai Shodown is set in the late 18th century after the events of Samurai Showdown V and prior to the events of the original game. As of right now, the game will see the return of thirteen classic characters, including Haohmaru, Earthquake, and Galford, along with three brand new characters to the series. The game also has planned DLC character for after launch.
