Samurai Shodown Reveals First Entry After Ten Years for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC
SNK and Athlon Games announced that the classic series Samurai Shodown will receive a new entry, Samurai Showdown for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this June, and Nintendo Switch and PC in Q4 of 2019.
Samurai Shodown will reboot the 2D fighting game series by presenting it with a new 3D graphical look. However, the developer promises that it will retain the classic fantasy Samurai manga look of the series.
The game set in the late 18th century after the events of Samurai Showdown V and prior to the events of the original game. As of right now, the game will see the return of thirteen classic characters, including Haohmaru, Earthquake, and Galford, along with three brand new characters to the series. The game also has planned DLC character for after launch.
Those headed to PAX East will be able to get a first hands-on with the series and also learn more about the series during a panel “Samurai Shodown – Resurrecting a Legend” on Saturday, March 30 moderated by Team Spooky’s Giby and feature SNK’s Yasuyuki Oda (Producer), Nobuyuki Kuroki (Game Director) and the Director of the original Samurai Shodown, Yasushi Adachi, as well as several others from SNK.
