Samurai Shodown Reveals Nintendo Switch Release Window in New Gameplay Trailer

SNK announced that Samurai Shodown will be headed to Nintendo Switch in Q1 2020.

To celebrate the announcement, the developer has released a new gameplay trailer to show the title running on Switch hardware. This port allows players to take the fighting game anywhere they wish as they play in handheld mode.

The Switch version will launch with 16 characters, 3 of them being new to the series. The game also includes Rimururu, Kubikiri Basara, Kazuki Kazama, Wan Fu, and Hisame Shizumaru.

Those who pre-order the game will also have access to Samurai Shodown! 2, which was originally developed for SNK’s Neo Geo Pocket. This will only be available on Nintendo Switch.

Samurai Shodown will reboot the 2D fighting game series by presenting it with a new 3D graphical look. However, the developer has worked hard to retain the classic fantasy Samurai manga look of the series. Samurai Shodown is set in the late 18th century after the events of Samurai Showdown V and prior to the events of the original game. Each of the fighters has a personal mission which leads them to encounter many of their former foes.

Samurai Shodown is available now on PS4 and Xbox One.
