Sam and Max Save the World Remastered Announced; Coming to Switch and PC Next Month
Fans of the adventure genre can rejoice, as Sam & Max Save the World Remastered has been announced for Nintendo Switch and Steam for a December 2 launch.
While earlier this year, a VR game of the dynamic duo was announced for PC, a remaster of the point-and-click classic may be something that fans are more interested in. The port is being handled by Sunkape Games, which should also please many fans since they’re comprised of ex-Telltale employees.
Sam & Max Save the World Remastered will not only be remastered with a brand new lighting engine and enhanced visuals, but it will also feature widescreen support, gamepad support, a reworked introduction, and five new music tracks. There will also be reworked music cues, better camera angles, and the jokes will have better timing.
Another bonus about this remaster is that it’s being brought to the Nintendo Switch as well. While Sam & Max games released on consoles a few generations back, they weren’t made with console play in mind, rather just a direct port of the PC version. Now, it’s being optimized for both PC and Switch, so it should be more console friendly than before.
What was initially lost in the Telltale closing is now alive and well again, bringing Gaming’s first Sitcom back from the brink. And not only are ex-devs from Telltale Games the ones working on the remaster, but it also has the blessing of the duo’s creator, Steve Purcell. It’s without a doubt going to be very exciting to revisit the Freelance Police HQ, or even visit for the first time.
