Die Gute Fabrik announced that their story-driven adventure game Saltsea Chronicles will launch for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam on October 12, 2023.
Throughout this game, Captain Maja’s crew starts a search for a missing member, taking them across numerous islands in a world that has suffered from a flood, resulting in the Saltsea. Players will interact with various island communities comprising many ruins and diverging pathways to explore. New members can also join the crew, and conflict will arise depending on the player’s choices and actions.
Multiple playthroughs are encouraged, with mysteries kept track of in Murl’s Log and encounters recorded as stickers in the Almanac. Repeated playthroughs will encourage choices that will lead you to different areas and characters. Thankfully, it’s all kept immensely convenient since “you can replay from any chapter and branch your save file to meet new crew members.”
The title features an “original score by Eli Rainsberry – IGF-nominated composer and sound artist Eli Rainsberry (No Longer Home, A Monster’s Expedition).” Moreover, a card minigame players can participate in is Spoils, which has unique rules dependent on the island you play on.
