Salt and Sanctuary Sequel ‘Salt and Sacrifice’ Gets Multiplayer Gameplay Trailer

James Silva from Ska Studios provided an overview of Salt and Sacrifice‘s online factions during the Future Games Show at Gamescom 2021. The two-person developer team first announced the game a couple of months ago and revealed that there would be an online co-op, one of the most requested features of its predecessor, Salt and Sanctuary.

In today’s reveal, Ska Studios not only added online co-op but also online PVE and PVP online factions as well. Players can consume a guiltless shard, becoming atoned. While atoned, they can summon random strangers to come to their aid. However, this also opens their world up to invaders of the Inquisitor faction. Inquisitors employ a variety of melee move sets, runic arts, and ranged weapons, and consumable items. Fortunately, the invasion also sends out an alert to members of another faction, who may come to aid and protect the player.

The Blueheart Runners is a PVP/PVE hybrid faction. Players collect the ashes of the Haze Burnt, a horde of zombie-like creatures who have succumbed to the Spell Mark curse. Collecting ashes summons Haze Wraiths, creatures of pure magical corruption to hunt down invaders. Collect the full quota of ashes to turn the table on the invaders, significantly debuffing them for a time, allowing players to hunt them down and destroy them. As players summon more allies, their world becomes more susceptible to invasion as well.

For those that do not wish to engage in PVP, they can play solo offline or online via a password system. The developers have much more to announce in the future months ahead. Salt and Sacrifice will be releasing on the PlayStation 5 and PC in Q1 2022.
