Ryu ga Gotoku Studio Sells 19.8 Million Units Worldwide

Sega Sammy’s latest business overview report has revealed that games from developer Ryu ga Gotoku Studio have sold over 19.8 million units worldwide. However, it is worth noting that the report doesn’t explicitly state Yakuza or Like a Dragon, instead citing the developer wholly.

So, while the vast numbers of sales can certainly be attributed to the Yakuza and Judgment series, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania and Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise are also included in this amount.

Regardless, it’s an impressive sales culmination that’s teasingly close to 20 million. Moreover, the near future for the company is looking to be incredibly bright, with three highly anticipated Like a Dragon titles in the works.

Like a Dragon: Ishin! is releasing for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and PC via Windows and Steam on February 22, 2023. This title was formerly Japan-only. Further, this will be a fully-fledged remake in Unreal Engine 4 with new content.

Combat utilizes four styles; Sword, Gun, Dance, and Brawl. Weapon enhancement will also be possible to face powerful foes more feasibly. The base town of Kyo will have plenty of activities to partake in as well. Various minigames will be present, such as karaoke, with there even being Edo-period style arrangements.
