RWBY Arrowfell Announced From WayForward and Arc System Works in Debut Trailer
During the RWBY Live event at Rooster Teeth’s RTX live stream, the cast and crew of RWBY revealed the first gameplay for RWBY Arrowfell, coming in 2022 from developer WayForward and publisher Arc System Works. The game is being developed for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
The game features Metroidvania elements where players explore a 2D world along with single-player gameplay missions and local and online multiplayer modes. Players will play as all four members of Team RWBY and utilize their abilities to get through waves of enemies the hinder the group’s progression. The game includes animated cutscenes from the creators of the show to add further detail to the story.
RWBY Arrowfell takes place during the events of RWBY Volume 7. The game has been written by RWBY writers Kerry Shawcross, Miles Luna, and Eddy Rivas. During gameplay, players can control Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long and switch between them during solo or multiple modes.
Environments include locals such as Atlus, Mantle, and more as players will need to fight against the Creatures of Grimm and other enemies along with never-before-seen threats. Further, the group also crosses paths with familiar faces including General Ironwood and the Ace Operatives, plus a fearless new group of Huntresses known as Team BRIR.
“I am beyond excited to finally share details around our new video game, RWBY: Arrowfell,” said Rooster Teeth Senior Writer Kerry Shawcross. “This is a match made in Remnant! Rooster Teeth, WayForward, and Arc System Works are mutual fans of one another, so this is truly a dream come true for all of us. I’ve always thought a RWBY game in this vein would be perfect and it’s so incredible to see it come to life. We hope fans are as thrilled as we are when this all-new action-adventure releases next year. Believe me, it will be worth the wait!”
RWBY Arrowfell is currently planned for a digital release only at this time.
