Rumors State Konami Will Reveal Revivals of Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill in 2022

According to the website videogamechronicle, an anonymous source has shared private news about the developer and publisher Konami. To summarize this information, revivals for the Castlevania, Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill franchises are supposedly imminent, with announcements expected to occur next year, 2022.

More specifically, a reimagining of Castlevania is in internal development at Konami Japan with external studio support. Developer Virtuous is apparently working on a remake for Metal Gear Solid. They have worked on several major triple-A titles in various ways. Lastly, many Silent Hill titles are in development from external studios, the specifics of which have not been provided.

Further, the article notes a crucial point. Konami planned to appear during E3 2021 with “key projects” but had to refrain from appearing during the digital event.

Obviously, everyone is hoping for the best if these rumors are true, but I think it’s safe to assume everyone is cautiously optimistic at best. Konami has had a relatively poor track record regarding quality this past decade. Personally, I’m most curious about this Castlevania reimagining and whether it will be 2D or 3D.

Regardless though, temper your expectations as always, and don’t assume these rumors are real until official announcements from Konami ensue.
