Mystery Visual Novel ‘Root Letter: Last Answer’ PS4 and Switch Release Date Details Revealed
Publisher PQube and developer Kadokawa Games announced today that Root Letter: Last Answer will launch on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on September 3 in North America. It’ll come to Europe on August 30, and a release date hasn’t been revealed yet for the PC version.
Those that either pre-order or get the game at launch will get the Day One Edition of the game, which will include a 100-page art book.
Root Letter: Last Answer marks the return of the best-selling interactive mystery visual novel. In the game, players will follow the footsteps of Aya Fumino, a school penfriend allegedly involved in a tragic murder 15 years ago. This murder case has yet to be solved, so it’ll be up to the player to explore the Prefecture of Shimane to uncover clues and track down Aya’s childhood friends for questioning. The catch with this, however, is that her friends are now adults living a peaceful life, so they may not be so willing to give go back to the past and share painful memories.
Every decision the player makes will have a consequence, and can negatively or positively impact relationships with certain characters. However, if characters don’t want to reveal answers, players will have the option to use the items and evidence to make them confess.
In addition to several gameplay improvements, Root Letter: Last Answer adds brand new epilogues that conclude Aya Fumino’s story and a live-action mode.
With the new live-action mode, players will be able to enjoy the story in a whole different way as they can see Shinmane’s locations and residents come to life.
