Adventure Visual Novel ‘Root Film’ Gets Gameplay Trailer Showing Investigative Systems

PQube and Kadokawa Games have launched a new gameplay trailer for the adventure mystery visual novel Root Film, coming to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on March 19 in the west.

The trailer shows off new gameplay where players will interact with characters to solve a mystery. Further players will encounter a Max Mode where they will put the suspect’s alibis to the test. This requires that players gather clues and ask the right questions to use against suspects and find holes in their statements.

Root Film is about a TV series called “Shimane Mystery Drama Project,” which had been canceled 10 years before the game’s events. Three teams are put together in hopes of rebooting the project, but things are brought to a standstill when 23-year-old Rintar Yagumo and his coworkers are disrupted by a murder that takes place.

The gameplay in the Root Film has a mix between visual novel and adventure elements. Players will use their intuition to pick out keywords during conversation and pry further into other’s statements.

We’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date with the development and release of Root Film.
