Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song- Remastered Announced for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch and Mobile

Square Enix has announced their new remaster in their classic RPG franchise SaGa. Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song- Remastered will bring the PS2 remake of the classic SNES RPG to modern consoles. This enhanced edition will be available on PC -via Steam-, PS4, PS5, Switch and Mobile systems (Android and iOS) in Winter 2022, though a more specific date hasn’t been disclosed yet.

Romancing SaGa was the fourth title in the franchise and an important step in the series evolution. Back on the Super Famicom (the Japanese Super Nintendo), it introduced a non-linear structure to the series as well as allowed players to pick one of eight protagonists, each with their own backgrounds.

Though your character has their own personal story, the exploration of the world can vary wildly depending on the player choices. Romancing SaGa also featured the Glimmer system, allowing characters to learn new skills during battle depending on which weapons and skills they use.

While the original SNES game never made it to the west, its PS2 remake came over. This is what in Japan was called Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song-, and it’s the version getting a remaster. While details are still scant, Square Enix has already revealed that this new edition won’t simply be an HD visual improvement to the original. It’ll include new quality of life features as well as brand new content, though the company hasn’t revealed those yet.
