Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV: Diplomacy and Strategy Expansion Pack Gets Release Date; First Entry Released on Switch
Koei Tecmo announced that their tactical RPG Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV: Diplomacy and Strategy Expansion Pack will launch digitally on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam on February 11, 2021.
This will be the first time the series has been released on the Switch. Those who purchase the game early will also be able to download a bonus scenario, “The Fall of Shu Han,” for free. Switch players will be able to download the “Battle of Yiling” as a bonus, which was previously a bonus for other consoles.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV: Diplomacy and Strategy Expansion Pack gives players the ability to interact with cities of foreign tribes, including the tribes of Wuhuan, Xianbei, Qiang, Nanman, and Shanyue. While it has always been important to deal with conflicts in China’s central areas, now players must think twice about strategies on the borders where tense battles can now emerge.
The expansion makes relationships more dynamic based on the player’s choices. Conquering one tribe will make another tribe happier, which can open up new trade routes.
Once the relations grow between regions, players will acquire influential officers who can utilize a unique formation to gain the upper hand. This changes depending on the relationship made, so strategy comes into play when deciding who to keep on your good side.
The expansion will also unlock a new Switch Kingdoms mode. When beginning a new scenario in this mode, the forces’ location will randomly shuffle, causing events to be brand new.
Romance of The Three Kingdoms XIV introduces new systems and features to the series, such as appointing an Area Overseer, an officer tasked with advancing the land’s development to increase its income. This will simplify the territorial expansion and can be used to cut off local supply lines tactically. Choosing officers will make a difference in this feature of the game. Players will also construct new structures such as Arrow Towers, Camps, Stone Soldiers, and other unique buildings.
