Competitive One Person Developed Shmup ‘Rival Megagun’ Gets PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC Release Date

Degica announced that the long in development shoot ‘em up Rival Megagun will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC-via Steam on November 29.

Rival Megagun was developed over 2 years by 1 person, that includes him handling any issues that come from bringing the game to multiple consoles. The game is a competitive split-screen vertical shoot ‘em up where players will transform into a gigantic boss ship called the Mega Gunship in order to invade your opponent’s screen. The game also has a single player arcade mode.

The game features classic shooter action with an extra dose of competitive gameplay modes with a variety of playable heroes who each have their own Mega Gunship form. The game’s 2-player mode includes online and local battles. Players are also able to unlock new gear and weapons in order to customize their ships.

The game will also support English, Japanese, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian, Korean, Chinese, and Russian language options.

Author’s take: Developed by 1 person!? That’s an excellent accomplishment and I’m totally digging the game’s anime-like characters and cartoonish sprites. I can’t wait to see how the game controls and if the 2-player modes have what it takes to continue to be fun after a couple of matches.
