Risk of Rain Returns Reveals Providence Trials & Artificer Character; 50-Video Info Series Announced

Gearbox Publishing and Hopoo Games have announced that their previously revealed action roguelike, Risk of Rain Returns, will receive a new game mode called Providence Trials.

Players will be able to complete these new challenges, which test their mobility, combat skills, and survivability on custom stages to unlock alternate abilities for the Survivors. In addition, over forty Providence Trials are planned to be implemented. And speaking of the Survivors, the Artificer will be introduced in this remake, rewarding players who can adequately utilize her diverse toolkit.

Risk of Rain Returns will be a remake of the 2013 Risk of Rain with an updated codebase. This version will expand on the original with new features and elements taken from feedback gathered from Rist of Rain 2.

The pixel art is now in HD, with original and new music from Chris Christodoulou and various balance changes. This modern classic has been remastered and packed with new ways to play. No two runs are the same, especially now with enhanced new and familiar Survivors, customizable Survivor abilities, fresh items, deadly monsters, and a game mode.
