Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles Gets August Release Date; New Trailer Focusing on Rhapsody II

NIS America has shared a new trailer for Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles. Besides showing off Rhapsody II: Ballad of the Little Princess, the first of the two games in the collection, it reveals the game’s release date will be August 29, 2023. The collection will be released on Nintendo Switch and PS5, with each individual title also coming to PC via Steam.

Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles is a collection with two Nippon Ichi Software games never before released in the west. It includes the PS1 game Rhapsody II: Ballad of the Little Princess and the PS2 game Rhapsody III: Memories of Marl Kingdom, the sequels to Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure. The three games constitute what’s called the Marl Kingdom series, one of the most important pieces of NIS history.

Rhapsody II takes place a few years after the first game and follows the story of Kururu, the young daughter of Cornet and prince Ferdinand. Just like her mother, she’s a little rascal, so she decides to get out of the castle as she’s determined to go on a journey to find her own prince. This time around battles take place in a turn-based format with no grid.

Meanwhile, Rhapsody III is an ensemble piece that complements the stories of both games, providing additional stories to the characters in six chapters. A spotlight trailer showing more of the game will likely come after, as was the case for the Prinny Presents NIS Classics games.
