Visual Novel ‘Rewrite+’ Launches Kickstarter to Assist Western Localization
Sekai Project has launched a Kickstarter for the VisualArts Key developed visual novel Rewrite+, asking $180,000 to finish the project.
The Kickstarter was created to bring a digital and physical release of the game to the west as the publisher continues localization. This is also a chance for fans of the Rewrite series to get physical merchandise from the series.
The project was previously announced at Anime Expo 2017, and the team has since spent $40,000 on the programming and localization of the title. This is due to the size of the project in includes Rewrite+ and Rewrite Harvest festa! The other issue encountered for funding has been with the publisher paying voice licensing fees that must be paid through the actor’s agencies for each voice actor.
It’s for these reasons that the publisher needs the help of the community to release the game on time and within budget. They also want to make physical copies of the game along with a limited edition, which will contain several bonus items.
A copy of Rewrite+ and Rewrite Harvest festa! through the Kickstarter will cost $40, and the physical edition will be $50.
Rewrite+ and Rewrite Harvest festa! is set in Kazamatsuri, where Tennoji Kotarou spends his day with his close group of friends. Once a year, an event shakes the foundations of this small town. Known as the harvest festival, Kotarous collects information about creatures and the occult. All around him, strange things happen, and Kotarou does what he can to find the “truth” that no one else has discovered.
