TABINOMICHI has released a demo for their upcoming visual novel Return to Zeroes on Steam. This allows players to check out a part of the game in English and Japanese ahead of its 2026 release. More language options are planned for the future as well.
Created by Hyogo Onimushi, Return to Zeroes is a follow up to visual novel Return to Shironagasu Island, which was originally released in Japan back in 2018. A Steam version of the previous game is available in English, Spanish (LATAM/Spain), Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Polish, Russian, Korean, Chinese (Traditional/Simplified) and Japanese.
In the new game, private detective Ikeda Sen is back, investigating a mysterious web of conspiracies in New York after meeting the mysterious Lila. This story is somehow connected to events in Japan, with a high schooler called Izumozaki Neneko finding a mysterious skeleton on the way to school.
The player will get to see both perspectives and how they will somehow intersect thanks to a time-traveling device. With the Zapping System, it will be possible to actively switch between both protagonists, piecing together the truth. Gameplay includes point-and-click elements.
Return to Zeroes’s English translation is being worked on by the team behind Laplacian’s recent visual novels Harmonic Reflections and Kugayama Shiori’s Death Diary. More details on the full release will still be announced in the future.
