tri-Ace recently announced that their steampunk action RPG, Resonance of Fate, will receive a 4K/HD Edition set to release on PlayStation 4 and PC-via Steam this October. The studio has followed their announcement with new details about the game’s improvements.
In a post on PlayStation Blog, tri-Ace details their experience bringing the eight-year-old game to a 4K resolution. They mention that this was a challenge to the team because they had to pre-render the movies all in 4K, which required them to utilize their proprietary technology “deep learning” in order to up-rez. The team also strived to maintain the game at 60 frames per second.
The team also mentions that they have improved the quality of the textures, which made each of the characters look better, which we agree with. additionally, the game’s backgrounds, shadows, fog effect, and light sources have all been improved with the atmosphere of the game in mind.
Resonance of Fate tells the story of Zephyr in a world where humans have created machines known as Basel, who are driving the humans into a class ranked system. Zephyr and a group of mercenaries set out to discover the truth behind these machines and put a stop to who over is pulling the strings.
The game features and a quick battle system where players must place their characters around enemies to make a triangle and execute and tri-attack. Each character is equipped with guns and special skills.
Along with bug some bug fixes, the team at tri-Ace are on their way to release a nice looking remastered game. You can check out the comparison screenshots below:
Author’s take: I know no one was asking for this game, but I think it’s going to cool to have, even if it’s a digital only release. I had a lot of fun playing Resonance of Fate when it originally launched and regrettably never completed it, so here’s to another chance!
