Capcom announced that Resident Evil Village VR Mode will launch as free DLC for Resident Evil Village on February 22, 2023, alongside the release of the PlayStation VR2. This will be available to owners of either Resident Evil Village or Resident Evil Village Gold Edition.
In VR Mode, players can experience the entire campaign from the VR device. This will likely provide more immersion to the player, as the game was initially released with the first-person perspective as the default. Further, VR Mode will utilize the 4K HDR display, eye tracking, and 3D audio.
Resident Evil Village VR Mode will also support the PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers. These represent Ethan’s hands to allow various actions to be performed in-game. Further, players can hold up their arms to guard against enemies. Weapons have also been made to be more realistic in VR Mode with options of dual-wielding and natural motion controls for reloading firearms and brandishing knives.
Resident Evil Village is set a few years after the events of Resident Evil 7 Biohazard. We are reintroduced to Ethan and Mia, who have moved to a new location and are relatively happy. However, right when they thought things were going well, tragedy befalls them. Players then assume the role of a distraught Etan who seeks to uncover the truth of the mysteries affecting a once-peaceful village.
The game borrows the first-person perspective from Resident Evil 7 Biohazard as players explore a new town and uncover its secrets.
Resident Evil Village is available now on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
