Capcom has released the original Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis on PC via Steam today, alongside. Each title is available for $9.99, with a 50% discount running through April 15 at 10:00 a.m. PT.
The timing lines up with the lead-up to the Resident Evil series’ 30th anniversary. The first entry debuted in 1996 and helped establish the survival horror genre, with its early sequels expanding the formula through new characters, scenarios, and enemies. Across these three releases, players revisit Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Leon S. Kennedy, and Claire Redfield as they navigate puzzle-heavy environments, limited resources, and encounters with enemies like Nemesis, Mr. X, and Lickers.
Capcom states that these Steam versions retain the original releases while adding support for modern operating systems and controllers. There’s no mention of additional content or major visual upgrades, suggesting these are straightforward ports aimed at preserving the original experience on current hardware.
Breath of Fire IV joins the lineup as a turn-based RPG from Capcom’s PlayStation-era catalog. The game follows Ryu and a group of allies as they confront an immortal emperor. Its arrival on Steam gives PC players another way to access one of the publisher’s older RPG titles, which has seen limited availability on modern platforms over the years.
This batch continues Capcom’s recent trend of bringing legacy titles to modern storefronts with minimal changes, focusing on accessibility rather than reworking the games themselves.
