Resident Evil Netflix Series Shares Teaser Trailer; The Games Are Canon

Netflix has shared the first teaser trailer for their upcoming live-action Resident Evil series set in New Raccoon City during 2036. Not much is shown throughout this brief video aside from snippets of zombie-filled chaos. The series will launch on July 14, 2022, and comprise eight one-hour episodes.

The following show synopsis has been provided:

Year 2036 – 14 years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse, Jade Wesker fights for survival in a world overrun by the blood-thirsty infected and insane creatures. In this absolute carnage, Jade is haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, by her father’s chilling connections to the Umbrella Corporation but mostly by what happened to her sister, Billie.

Entertainment publication Comic Book recently sat down with executive producer and showrunner Andrew Drabb, and he explained that the show is canon to the games. Still, he and his team are prioritizing telling their own story without showcasing characters or events from those titles.
