Resident Evil 4 VR Mode Now Available as Free DLC for Base Game Owners; Free Demo

Capcom has announced that Resident Evil 4 VR Mode is now available as free DLC on PlayStation VR2 for all PlayStation 5 owners of Resident Evil 4. Additionally, a free demo is available for those who don’t own the base game, which includes the game’s opening movements and the new Shooting Range.

The same team from the VR versions of Resident Evil 7 Biohazard and Resident Evil Village worked on this project, with all weapons from the main story faithfully detailed with intuitive controls. There is also 3D audio, a 4K HDR display, and haptic feedback with the DualSense controllers. Ashley is playable, too.

Immersive intuition is implemented with weapon usage, including “specific mechanics that are performed with authentic gestures, such as reloading shotguns with pumping actions or swinging Leon’s knife to execute parries and melee attacks.”

Resident Evil 4 Remake features much of the tense horror-action players remember from the game with a “state-of-the-art quality” suitable for 2023. However, the team is focused on preserving the essence of the original game and plans to provide a familiar experience that fans of the series remember.

Further, they offer a fresh new feeling with additional story elements. This is a “reimagining” of the original game’s storyline while keeping the essence of the direction with modernized graphics and updated controls.
